The Killing Joke was a pretty dark scene to work on.
For the environment I read and re-read the graphic novel to draw inspiration for the colours and recognizable features of Barbara's apartment. Little things such as the table she smashes though is the same as the comic (the vfx guys did a great job trashing it :) )
I created the environment and did the initial lighting pass all with great feedback from my lead Glen. I tried to bring a more youthful, warmer side to Barbara with some of the coloured lighting, the flowers, the gymnastic trophies and soft furnishings.
One of the trickier aspects of this room was the hallucination transition back into the present day as the whole room had to fit within the Clocktower, as well as have seamless lighting and reflections when transitioning. Cinematics, design, character guys and animation did a lovely job on this one and it was a group effort. A lot of the smaller props were from other artists on the team, the great posters were done by Markus Lovadina and Simon Brewer.
